Original job description

🌱 Team Leader – Greenhouse Operations

Brookdale Treeland Nurseries Limited (BTN) is one of Canada’s largest and most respected growers and distributors of garden plants, serving customers across Canada and the United States. With a history rooted in horticulture dating back to its formation in 1983, BTN operates multiple farms in Ontario and British Columbia spanning hundreds of acres of cultivated land.

BTN specializes in growing and supplying a wide range of high-quality plant products - including flowering shrubs, evergreens, broadleaf evergreens, perennials, trees, vines, holiday greens, small fruits, and tropical plants - and is known for building full-service customized programs tailored to the needs of garden retailers, landscape contractors, municipalities, golf courses, and retail partners.

Through a broad network of more than 300 growers around the world combined with BTN’s own production, the company stays ahead of market and consumer trends to deliver innovative plant assortments and branded offerings. BTN partners with well-known brands such as Proven Winners®, Knock Out® Roses, Heritage® Perennials, and more, providing both retail and wholesale customers with exceptional products and services.

BTN is a company that takes pride in its horticultural expertise, commitment to quality, and customer-focused approach - continually working to support the success of its team members and trading partners alike.

Lead people. Build things. Grow something real.

We’re looking for a hands-on Team Leader to supervise crews of 5–15 people in our fast-paced perennial greenhouse operation. This role is for someone who likes to be in the action, not behind a desk - leading crews through a wide variety of projects as the seasons change.

What you’ll do

Lead and motivate crews across production, potting, plant care, Christmas production, and more
Plan daily work, keep projects moving, and jump in when needed
Set the tone: safe, productive, positive, and efficient
Adapt - no two weeks look the same here, and that’s the fun part

What we’re looking for

Proven ability to lead people and direct physical work
Comfortable with hands-on, physically demanding work in all seasons
Organized, dependable, and confident making decisions
Greenhouse or agriculture experience is a plus - but not required

Why this role is different

Real responsibility and real leadership (not just a title)
Variety - plants, projects, people, and seasons keep things interesting
Work you can see, touch, and be proud of at the end of the day

If you’re the kind of leader who earns respect by showing up, working hard, and bringing people together - we’d like to meet you.
